Ms. Sonya Lynn Lewis

Ms. Sonya Lynn Lewis, age 58 of Morehead City, North Carolina, passed away Tuesday, October 21, 2014, in Carteret General Hospital in Morehead City. She was born in Ashland, Kentucky, on January 17, 1956, and was preceded in death by her father, Ronald Lewis. She was an active member of Sovereign Grace Baptist Church in Jacksonville, North Carolina, and had taught 4th and 5th grade for over 20 years. She was a member of the Folklander's Dance Group, performing dances from many countries.
Ms. Lewis is survived by her mother, Martha L. Lewis of Ashland; a brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Cinda Lewis of Newport, North Carolina; a sister and brother-in-law, Alane and Ira Cox of Ashland; and two nieces, Chelsea Lewis and Pamela Cox.
A graveside service will be held Friday, October 24, 2014, at 1:00 p.m. in the Roberson Family Cemetery on Poplar Camp Road in Charity, Virginia, with Pastor Gary Shepard officiating. There will be no formal visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Sovereign Grace Baptist Church, c/o Gary Shepard, 495 Holly Shelter Road, Jacksonville, North Carolina, 28540 or to Thirteenth Street Baptist Church, P.O.
