Ms. Wyoma Odessa Smith Hurley age 84 of Lambsburg, VA formerly of Mt. Airy passed away Friday, July 25, 2014 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. She was born November 9, 1929 in Galax, VA to the late Emmitt McDaniel and Bessie Lee Bartlet Smith. Dedicated to working hard and doing the best at all she did, Ms. Hurley stood firm in what she believed but was always considerate of others. She was a devoted loving mother with a unique sense of humor. Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Pat Cobbler and Ed of Greensboro, Dianna Lowe and Larry of Lambsburg, VA and Bridget Hoenig and Jim of Lake Kiowa, TX, a son and daughter-in-law, Danny Blevins and Liz of Mt. Airy, six grandchildren, Taylor Shaw and wife, Makayla of Mt. Airy, Colby Shaw of Raleigh, Shelby Blevins of Mt. Airy and Jody Garavanta of Raleigh, Stacey Sexton Palmer and Dawn Marie Sexton both of Inwood, WVA, and Daniel Blevins of Boca Raton, Florida, a sister, Katherine Marion of Mt. Airy, a brother, W. D. Smith of Mt. Airy and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Ms. Hurley was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Sexton, a grandson, Stephen Chesleigh Griffith, two sisters, Billie Lee Karns, Almeda Sexton and a brother, J. D. Smith. Funeral services will be held 3:00 pm Sunday, July 27, 2014 at Fellowship Tabernacle in Lambsburg with Rev. Donald Bryant and Rev. David Allred officiating. Burial will follow in the Monta Vista Cemetery in Galax, VA. The family will receive friends at Fellowship Tabernacle Fellowship Hall on Sunday from 2:00 pm until the time of the service in the church.
