Myrtle Ruth Boyd

Mrs. Myrtle Ruth Boyd, age 95 of Meadows of Dan passed away Sunday morning at Pioneer Community Hospital. She was born on Feb. 23, 1917 in Floyd County to the late Rufus and Emma Wood Boyd. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her husband, Frank Boyd; a daughter, Ruth Boyd; a step granddaughter, Cindi Brewster; and three brothers, Luther, Alvy, and Elmer Boyd. Myrtle was well known for her beautiful flowers, loved listening to music, was devoted to her family, and was kind and loving to all. She was a member of Mountain View United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a daughter, Eileen Boyd of Meadows of Dan; a son and daughter in law, Ronald and Patricia Boyd of Meadows of Dan; three step grandchildren; five step great grandchildren; three step great great grandchildren; two sisters in law, Katherine Boyd of Roanoke, Iris Boyd of Meadows of Dan; and a special friend, Freda Lawson of Collinsville.
A graveside service will be held Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at 2:00 PM at the George Boyd Family Cemetery on Braswell Rd. with Pastor Shawn Carter officiating. There will be no formal visitation. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vesta Rescue Squad, P O Box 911, Meadows of Dan, VA 24120. Moody Funeral Home in Stuart is handling the arrangements.
