Nadean Plasters Gilbert

Mrs. Nadean Plasters Gilbert of Patrick Springs, Virginia passed away peacefully early Tuesday morning on April 11, 2023.  She was born in Patrick County to the late John C. Plasters and Rosa Lee Hundley Plasters.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Fredrick “Jimmy” Gilbert; two sisters, Artie P. Milton and an infant sister, Bessie Mae Plasters; two brothers, Billy Wayne Plasters, and an infant brother, James Plasters; and one half-brother, John Calvin Cockram.  She was a member of Patrick Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church.  Nadean truly enjoyed playing softball, basketball, and bowling.  She owned and operated Nadean’s Fabric Shop, drove a school bus, and worked for P.A.R.C Workshop, she poured herself into each of her jobs by showing motherly care.  She will be remembered for her outgoing personality, how she never met a stranger, was the life of the party, and how fiercely she loved her family and friends.

Left to cherish the memory of Nadean Gilbert are her four devoted children, Deborah Cox (Barry), Donna Pendleton (Dale), Jimmy Gilbert (Serena), and Galen Gilbert; six grandchildren, Josh Draper (Danielle), Jessica Draper Sarver, Leigh Ann Hazelwood (Mike), Chris Pendleton (Heather), Jimmy Gilbert, and Jackson Gilbert; nine great-grandchildren, William Sarver, Elizabeth Sarver, Lilly Hazelwood, Lauren Hazelwood, Aubrey Pendleton, Emma Pendleton, Madilyn Hazelbaker, Haley Gillispie, Karson Gillispie; three sisters, Lucille P. Harris; Shirley P. Meade (Steve); and Jane P. Clifton; special sister-in-law, Donna “Donna Reggie” Gilbert; several nieces and nephews; and her beloved canine companion, Zeva.

A funeral for Nadean will be held on Friday, April 14, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. at Patrick Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Samuel Leonard officiating.  Burial will immediately follow in the Plasters Family Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Patrick Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Jeb Stuart Rescue Squad, P.O.
