Mrs. Nancy Arlene Tucker Hawks Tolbert, 76 of Mt. Airy, passed away at Northern Hospital of Surry County on Friday, July 31, 2015. She was born on April 29, 1939 in Stokes County to James Otto and Rebecca Ann "Annie" Shelton Tucker. Mrs. Tolbert was a retired inspector from Proctor-Silex after 39 years of service and many years at Swift Stop. Surviving are her husband, Roger Tolbert; a daughter and son-in-law, Kathy Hawks Frye and husband Russell; a son, Curtis Wayne "Buzzy" Hawks, four grandchildren, Brandon Hawks and fiancé Nicole Franklin, Ashton Hawks Starnes and Ryan, Logan Hawks, Madison Hawks; a great-grandchild, "Levi" and a host of nieces and nephews; special friends, Barbara and Herman Hicks and her loving church family. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her first husband, Curtis Hawks; a brother, Leonard Tucker; and sisters, Naomi Gibson, Betty Tolbert, Doris Ore, and Nellie Smith. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 3, 2015 at the First Church of the Brethren with burial to follow at Skyline Memory Gardens. Family will receive friends Sunday night from 6-8 at Moody Funeral Home. Mrs. Tolbert will lie in state 30 minutes at the church prior to the service.
