Naomi "Nanny" Irene Hornaday Jessup

Mrs. Naomi Irene “Nanny” Hornaday Jessup, 94, of Mount Airy passed away Monday, April 17, 2023, at Twelve Oakes Assisted Living in Mount Airy.  Mrs. Jessup was born in Surry County on August 2, 1928, to the late William and Pearl Johnson Hornaday.  Nanny was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all that knew her. Mrs. Jessup retired from Cross Creek and was of the Baptist faith.  Surviving is her son and daughter-in-law, James Jessup and Mildred, five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; six great great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ruth Hornaday Gentry, Bonnie Hornaday France; a brother and sister-in-law, Skip Hornaday and Myrtle; two sisters-in-law, Lorine B. Hornaday, Reba M Hornaday; along with many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Jessup was preceded in death by a son, Ronnie Gray Jessup; two sisters, Alma Hornaday Vaughn, Lena Hornaday Riggs; four brothers, Junior Hornaday, Archie Hornaday, Charles “Charlie” Hornaday, and Paul Hornaday.  A graveside service will be held on Friday, April 21, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Skyline Memory Gardens with Dr. Jonathan Casstevens officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, April 21, 2023, from 10:00 AM until 11:30 AM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangement.
