Noretta Louise Jessup Hooker

Mrs. Noretta Hooker, age 81, of Pilot Mountain, passed away on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  She was born in Surry County on April 24, 1941 to the late Isom and Eunice Love Jessup.  Mrs. Hooker was a long-time member of Jessup Grove Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School  and multiple children’s programs for many years, she also sang in the choir.  She was active in her community in the South Westfield Ruritans. She was a loving mother, Nana, and Memaw who will surely be missed by all who knew her.  Left to cherish her memories are daughter and son-in-law, Donita Needham (Kevin); son and daughter-in-law, Mark Hooker (Libby); grandchildren, Marla Hooker Galyean (Joshua), Grace Needham, Matthew Needham; great-grandchildren, Landon and Knox Galyean; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol Epperson, Marie Cain (Jimmy); brothers-in-law, Jack Cardwell, and Russell Beck.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hooker was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Johnson Hooker; sisters, Melba Cardwell, Hilda Adams, and Barbara Beck; brother Arnold Jessup.  A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 2:00 PM at Jessup Grove Baptist Church with services conducted by Rev. Alan Branch.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until time for the service at the church.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Jessup Grove Cemetery Fund, 896 Jessup Grove Church Rd, Pilot Mountain, NC 27041.
