Norma "June" Atkinson Martin

Mrs. Norma “June” Atkinson Martin, 81 of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon July 16, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones at Northen Regional Hospital in Mount Airy. She was born on July 29, 1943, in Surry County to the late William Fred Atkinson and Eva Arlene Gentry Atkinson. She was a faithful member of Ivy Green Baptist Church. June was a loving daughter, wife, Mama, Ahma, sister, aunt, and friend. Left to cherish her memory are her daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Jeff Smith; her son and daughter-in-law, Andy and Tonya Martin; two granddaughters whom she adored, Abigail Martin and Tara Martin; and several other family and friends. In addition to her parents, June was preceded in death by her husband, Emmitt Grant Martin, Jr.; two sisters, Fredna Lavon “Von” Atkinson Thompson and Betty Kay Atkinson Williford; and her brother, Ashburn Gray “Doc” Atkinson. Graveside services will be held on Saturday July 19, 2025, at 11:00am at Ivy Green Baptist Church Cemetery with Pastor Robert McCrary officiating. The family will receive friends at Ivy Green Baptist Church on Saturday from 10:30am – 11:00am. The family would like to give a special thank you to all of the nurses and CNA’s for all of the love and care given to June in the past two years. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Ivy Green Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 818 Old Lowgap Road, Mount Airy, NC 27030. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
