Odessa Holyfield Shores, 103, passed away on April 22, 2026. Born May 5, 1922, to the late Lacy Jasper Holyfield and the late Florence Cave Holyfield. Odessa found her greatest joy outdoors, tending to her garden and nurturing the beauty around her. She worked and retired from Chatham’s Manufacturing. Odessa lived a long life full of love, kindness, and cherished moments with those she held dear. Left to carry on her memory is her son, Bobby Shores; grandchildren, Christopher Shores and Zonieta, and Amber Shores; great grandchildren, Heather Shores, and Lashae Joplin and Zane; and great-great grandchildren, Nellie Joplin, and Camden Joplin. Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Martin Shores; sister, Cassie freeman; and brothers, John Holyfield, Jim Holyfield, and Floyd Holyfield. The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 2:00 PM, Sunday, April 26, 2026, at Charity Hill Baptist Church. The funeral will be held, following the visitation, Sunday, at 2:00 PM with Rev. Brian Cardwell, Bro. Mickey Brooks, and Rev. Claude Lloyd officiating. Burial will follow in the Charity Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
