Oleen Faye Scott Haymore

Mrs. Oleen Faye Scott Haymore, 86, of 2476 Old Highway 601, Mount Airy, passed away Monday afternoon, May 26, 2014, at Golden Living Center. Mrs. Haymore was born September 2, 1927, in Surry County, one of eleven children born to the late Arvil Kester and Nora Irene Samuels Scott. On November 10, 1945, Oleen married Grover Walter Haymore, and together they were a vital part of the Piney Grove community for 68 years. She dedicated her life to the creation of a loving home for her family, and was the source of ceaseless support to her husband in his professional activities. She was a longtime and faithful member of Piney Grove Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, Grover Walter Haymore of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Tommy and Bonnie Haymore, Clyde and Sheri Haymore, and Bill and Teresa Haymore, all of Mount Airy; her grandchildren, Ryan Haymore of Raleigh, Patrick Haymore of Mooresville, Carrie and Erik Williams and Lance and Julie Haymore, all of Charlotte, and Kaylin Haymore and Luke Haymore, both of Mount Airy; three sisters, Veva Scott Martin of Winston-Salem, Foy Scott Moser of Dobson, and Kay Scott Gardner of Richmond, VA; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Haymore was preceded in death by two sisters, Imogene Scott and Lois Scott Nixon; and five brothers, Rex Scott, Dean Scott, Graham Scott, Jackie Scott, and Clifford Scott. A service of worship and celebration of Oleen's life will be held Thursday, May 29, 2014, at 11:00 AM at Piney Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Mark A. Reece, Jr. and the Rev. Kermit L. Gray officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Piney Grove Baptist Church. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Piney Grove Baptist Church, P.O. Box 1022, Mount Airy, NC 27030. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
