Mrs. Ollie Ayers Ayers, 87, of Cana, VA, passed away with her family by her side on Sunday May 17, 2015, at Heritage Hall in Laurel Fork, VA. Mrs. Ayers was born December 20, 1927, in Carroll County VA, to the late Rufus E. and Savada Emaline Ayers. Ollie was a homemaker and orchardist. She is survived by six daughters, Caroline and the late William Harnsberger of Patrick Springs VA, Frances and Nelson Dawson of Ararat VA, Peggy and Emmett Crotts, Phyllis and Billy Allen, and Dorothy and Danny Gray Hiatt, all of Cana, VA, and Diana Lineberry and the late Wayne Lineberry of Austinville, VA; a son Donald Chester Ayers and Donna Webb Ayers of Laurel Fork, VA; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-three great-grandchildren; two brothers, Joseph Emanuel Ayers and Victor Ernest Ayers and his wife, Wilma Ayers; and a brother-in-law, Alfred Gwynn of Walnut Cove. Mrs. Ayers was a lifelong and loyal member of Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church of the Wards Gap community. She was a devoted mother, wife, and grandmother to her family and their rock. She enjoyed flowers, gardening and working in the orchard alongside her husband. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Chester Ayers; three sisters, Mae Ayers, June Gwynn, and Zettie Gwynn; and a brother, E.J. Ayers. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at 11:00 AM at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Cana, VA, with the Rev. Isreal Gwyn and the Rev. Louis Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made to Oak Grove Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Esther Ayers, 4217 Bear Trail Road, Cana, VA 24317. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
