Pansy Mae Bowman Chaney

Mrs. Pansy Mae Bowman Chaney passed away peacefully during the morning hours of Thursday, November 9, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson surrounded by her precious family.  She was 87 years old.  Mrs. Chaney was born June 3, 1936, in Surry County to the late Maggie Mae Felts and Tyrie Lyrine Bowman.  Mrs. Chaney was the most wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend.  She adored her family.  She was a fantastic cook who loved nothing more than preparing a meal for the ones she loved.  She retired from Renfro after many years of service.  Mrs. Chaney was quick-witted and hilarious, always making those around her laugh.  She loved to play tennis in her younger years and loved to shop up until the time her illness no longer allowed.  Christmas was her most favorite holiday, as it meant a joyful time with family.  Mrs. Chaney had a strong faith and deeply loved the Lord. She was an incredible woman who will be so dearly missed.  Mrs. Chaney is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Yvonne Hiatt and significant other, Mike Biernacki, and Kim and Todd Beverly; sons and daughter-in-law, Herbert Chaney, Steve and Jamie Chaney and Chris Chaney; grandchildren, Chelsy and Tyler Payne, Lauren and Jeff Whitaker, Sarah Chaney and Casey Clarida, Nicholas Beverly and Mason Chaney and fiancé Camille Cartwright; great-grandchildren TJ Payne, Tennyson Payne, Jhett Whitaker, Layla Whitaker, Daisy Clarida and Carolyn Clarida; and sister, Irene Bowman Collins.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Chaney was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Herbert Chaney, Sr.; sisters, Mary Etta Nichols and Betty Combs; and brothers, Lyrine Bowman, James Bowman, Everette Bowman, Dennis Bowman and Cecil Bowman.  A private service celebrating Mrs. Chaney’s life was held.  Burial followed at Skyline Memory Gardens.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 1427 Edgewood Drive, Suite 101, Mount Airy, North Carolina 27030.  Moody Funeral Service in Mount Airy is serving the Chaney family.
