Paul Gilbert Bolen

Mr. Paul Gilbert Bolen, 80, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday night, October 26, 2022, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem.  Mr. Bolen was born November 11, 1941, in Raleigh County, WV, one of four children born to the late Melvin and Lena Marie Meadows Bolen.  Gilbert served our country in the United States Army, and he later retired from Bassett Furniture after many years of service.  He is survived by a daughter, Tammy Yvonne Collins; two sons, Arthur Carl Bolen and Jeffrey Wayne Bolen; fourteen grandchildren, including a special grandson, Teddy Ray Bolen and his wife, Shannon; sixteen great-grandchildren, including two special great-grandsons, Cyrus Bolen and Orion Bolen; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to his parents, Mr. Bolen was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley Ann Tate Bolen; three daughters, Anita Gale Bolt, Lena Pavlisak, and Sheila Smith; a sister, Esther Bolen; and two brothers, Melvin “Buck” Bolen and Ernest “Ernie” Bolen.  A celebration of life service is being planned and will be announced soon.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
