Paul Holt

Paul “Papa Paul” Holt, age 80 of Stuart, passed away Saturday, September 26, 2026, at his home. He was born in Patrick County on February 11, 1946, to the late Edd and Delcie Holt. In addition to his parents, Mr. Holt was preceded in death by an infant son, Steven Paul Holt; a sister, Helen Shelton; and a brother, Willie Holt. He worked for JP Stevens for over 30 years. He was also a tobacco farmer and raised beef cows. He had been a member of Trinity Baptist Church in Westfield, North Carolina since 1979 where he served as a deacon, choir director, Sunday School teacher, and treasurer. He was a loving husband, father, “Papa,” brother, and uncle.

Mr. Holt is survived by his wife of 57 years, Janet Marie Hancock Holt of the home; a son, Matthew Holt (Stacey) of Stuart; six grandchildren, Zachary Holt (Addi) of Stuart, Mckenzie Holt (Corby) of Bassett, D’asia Ross of Stuart, Kelon Penn (Jasmine) of Fieldale, Caleb Gregory of Patrick Springs, and Aleah Gregory (Cody) of Patrick Springs; three great-grandchildren, Madelyn Gregory, Dawson Wyatt and Mallorie Gregory; three brothers, Jimmy Holt (Nancy), James Holt, Walter Holt, all of Stuart; two sisters, Patsy Baliles (Benny) of Stuart and Linda Fain (Randall) of Ararat; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. Holt will be held Sunday, October 4, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Tommy Nichols officiating. Burial will follow in Trinity Baptist Church Cemetery in Westfield, North Carolina.
