Mr. Paul Kermit Lowe, 86, of 1064 Maple Grove Church Road, Mount Airy, passed away Tuesday afternoon, April 17, 2012, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. Lowe was born October 14, 1925, in Surry County, the son of the late Claude Odell and Lizzie Gentry Lowe. Paul served our country in the United States Army during World War II. He received several decorations, including a Purple Heart and two bronze service stars, for his bravery throughout The Ardennes and Rhineland. Lowe owned and operated a sawmill for 52 years and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He is survived by his children, Greg and Holly Lowe Scott and Mike and Carol Norman Lowe, all of Mount Airy, and Morris and Paula Lowe Bellick of Ponte Vedra Beach, FL; two grandchildren, Maggie Lowe and Dustin Scott, both of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lowe was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Holloway Lowe; and three sisters, Willard Lowe Ramey, JoAnna Lowe Richardson, and Sybil Lowe Dennis. A graveside service will be held Saturday, April 21, 2012, at 11:00 AM at Ivy Green Baptist Church Cemetery. The service will be conducted by his loving family and military honors will be conducted by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the Ivy Green Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, c/o Danny Smith, 208 Dan Calloway Road, Lowgap, NC 27024.
