Peggie Tate Thomas

Mrs. Peggie Tate Thomas, age 96, of Mount Airy, widow of Herschel Thomas, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2024, at Central Continuing Care. She was born in Surry County, September 21, 1927, the daughter of the late Christopher and Nina Gwyn Tate.  Mrs. Thomas retired from Patterson Automotive and was a long-time member of Salem United Methodist Church. Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Vicky and Tim Hall; son and daughter-in-law, Keith and Andra Thomas; grandchildren, Brian Thomas, Kevin Thomas and wife, Shelby, Kyle Thomas and wife, Lorin, Bailey Thomas, Chad Hall and wife, Heather, and Adam Hall; great grandchildren, Alex Smith, Briyce Thomas, Malachi Shaw, Haidyn Thomas, Kaiden Thomas, Breilyn Thomas, Quinn Thomas, Ellick Attardo; step grandchildren, Kaylynn Brown and Garrett Brown. In addition to her husband and parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Nettie McNeill, Ruth Hawks, and brothers, Tobe Tate, and John Tate. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 1, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jack Danley and Rev. Catherine Turman officiating. Interment will follow in Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:30-2:00 PM on Thursday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, 1922 South Martin Luther King Dr., Winston Salem, NC 27107, or to Mountain Valley Hospice, 105 N. Crutchfield St., Unit 2, Dobson, NC 27017. The Thomas wants to thank the entire staff at Central Continuing Care of Mount Airy for their love and care given to Mrs. Thomas.
