Peggy Nancy Hiatt Dickerson

Mrs. Peggy Nancy Hiatt Dickerson, 92, of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday morning, May 17, 2023, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson.  Mrs. Dickerson was born August 14, 1930, in Surry County, one of seven children born to the late Albert Maurice and Macie Alma Lassiter Hiatt.  Peggy retired from Renfro Corporation after many years of service and was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joyce and Dean Simmons of Pilot Mountain; two sons and three daughters-in-law, Donnie and Sheryl Dickerson and Darrell and Sonia Dickerson, all of Mount Airy, and Gina Dickerson of Lambsburg, VA; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; a sister and brother-in-law, Betty and Eugene Simmons of Mount Airy; and several nieces and nephews.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Dickerson was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Donald Dickerson; a son, Blake Anthony Dickerson; a great-granddaughter, Taylor Simmons; three sisters, Polly Payne, Shirley Watts, and Jackie Gravley; and two brothers, Johnny Hiatt and James Albert Hiatt.  A service of worship and celebration of Peggy’s life will be held Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 11:00 AM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, with Bishop Brian Johnson officiating.  Interment will follow at Skyline Memory Gardens.  The family will receive friends Saturday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson, NC  27017; or Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 1427 Edgewood Drive, Suite 101, Mount Airy, NC  27030.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
