Mrs. Peggy Sue Hawks Gardner, age 80, of Mt. Airy, passed away on Monday, November 10, 2025 at Willowbrook Rehabilitation and Care in Yadkinville. She was born on May 28, 1945 in Surry County to the late Laura Puckett Holder. She was a loving mother and grandmother who will surely be missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Robin (Joshua) Hardin, Wanda (James) Billings; grandchildren, Dustin Moore, Landon Hardin. In addition to her parents Mrs. Gardner was preceded in death by her husband, Rubin Gardner; step-father, Dwight Holder; sisters, Kathleen Sehen and Betty Hawks; brother, Ray Hawks. A memorial service will be held on November 22, 2025 at 11am at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Mt. Airy with service conducted by Rev. Bill Perkins and Rev. John Kinder. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. There will be no formal visitation prior to the service.
