Peggy Jean Hawks Hawks

Mrs. Peggy Jean Hawks Hawks, 61, of Winston-Salem, formerly of Cana, VA, passed away Tuesday afternoon, August 27, 2013, at Danby House in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Hawks was born October 4, 1951, in Carroll County, VA, the daughter of the late Lawrence Roosevelt and Myrtle Marie Hawks. Peggy was a produce manager for many years and a member of Faith Baptist Church in Mount Airy. She is survived by a daughter, Susan Annette Hawks of East Bend; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Phillip and Donna Hawks and Steve Hawks, all of Cana, VA, and Kevin and Angel Hawks of Galax, VA; three grandchildren, Zachary Harp and Justin Harp, both of East Bend, and Taylor Hawks of Cana, VA; four stepgrandchildren, Tanner Woods, Emily Woods, Donnie Moore, and Amanda Moore; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Sue and Elvin McMillian, Angie and Sammy Combs, and Jenny Hawks, all of Cana, VA, and Gloria and Roger Payne of Ararat, VA; three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Ronald and Linda Hawks of Mocksville, and Barry and Cindy Hawks and Danny Hawks, all of Cana, VA; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Hawks was preceded in death by her husband, Dallas Edmund Hawks; a sister, Arlene Key; and two brothers, Larry Hawks and Donald Lee Hawks. A graveside service will be held Friday, August 30, 2013, at 11:00 AM at Sandy Ridge Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Randy Edwards officiating. There will not be a formal visitation at the funeral home. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
