Peggy Galyean Thornton

Peggy Galyean Thornton born November 8, 1955 went home to be with her Lord and Savior May 2, 2026. She was preceded in death by her mother and father Osby and Amy Galyean, her sister‘s Betty Rae Galyean and Linda Galyean Davis, sister n law Kay Galyean , her loving husband of 36 years , Joseph Danny Thornton, and her granddaughters Lydia and Sara.

To cherish her memory, she leaves behind her brother, Wade Galyean, brother n law Freddy Davis, her sister Ruth Oakley (Luke Oakley) along with many loving nieces, nephews, and special friends.

Her spirit and legacy live on in her children Danny Edward Thornton (Denise), Julie DeAnna Marshburn (Michael) , Frank Adam Thornton(Beth), Tonya Renee Thornton (Charlie Throckmorton) and honorary daughter Heather, her loving grandchildren, Pete, Keanen and Victoria, McKenzie, Isabella, Krystofer, Aleksandra, Brandon, Lakeland, Mason, Lexi and last but not least her two precious great grandson’s Truman and Treyton.

For those who knew Peggy, she was a loving, bright, and caring woman that will always be remembered with a smile.

The family will be receiving friends on Tuesday, May 5 from 1 to 2:45 PM and a celebration of life service will follow at 3 PM at New Life Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Davis officiating. Family will remain at the fellowship hall after the service. The church address is 411 New Life Church Rd., Mount Airy, NC 27030.
