Mr. Pete Hayrue Cain, 78 of Mount Airy, passed away Wednesday morning March 21, 2018 at Surry Community Health and Rehab. Mr. Cain was born in Surry County on November 18, 1939 to the late Floyd and Pearlie Sutphin Cain. He was retired from Brannock and Hiatt and was a member of Flat Ridge Baptist Church. He was also Past Master of Round Peak Masonic Lodge #616 and a member of Winston-Salem Scottish Rite. Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Hattie Golding Cain; two daughters and sons-in-law, Deena Willis and husband Vince, and Robin Dollyhigh and husband Mike; a son and daughter-in-law, Dennis Cain and wife Billie; grandchildren, Seth Perry and Jessica, Amoree Willard, Corinna Sawyers and Anthony, Cainan Dollyhigh and a special friend Noah Holder, Morgan Cain, Maycee Cain, Ethan Willis and Allison Willis; great-grandchildren, Cooper Perry, Landon Cain, Ace Cain, Abi Willard, and Ella Willard; sisters, Peggy Marion and husband Harlin, Lannie Lowe, and Geraldine Richardson; a brother, Gary Cain; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Bobby Willard, Charlie and Helena Moncus, Dave and Chris Pitts, and Peggy Ferrel. In addition to his parents, Mr. Cain was preceded in death by three sisters, Estelle Barker, Hilda Dean, and Runnell Hicks; and by five brothers, Delmar, Leonard, Elwood, Alvie, and Larn Cain. There will be a graveside service on Thursday morning, March 22, 2018 at Skyline Memory Garden at 11:00am with Rev. Dennis Bledsoe and Rev. Sammy Lawson officiating as well as full Masonic Rites by Round Peak Masonic Lodge #616. There will be no formal visitation for Mr. Cain. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are encouraged to The Masonic Home for Children at Oxford, 600 College Street, Oxford, North Carolina 27565, www.mhc-oxford.org. The family would like to give thanks to the special friends, family, staff of Surry Community Health and Rehabilitation, and the staff of Moody’s for all of the love and support given to them during Pete’s sickness. Moody Funeral Service in Mount Airy is respectfully serving the Cain family.
