Phillip Darrell Simmons

Phillip Darrell Simmons, 59, of Jupiter, FL, passed away at his home on September 6, 2014. Born in Mount Airy, NC, and a 1973 graduate of Mount Airy High School, he was the son of Ruth Poore Simmons and the late Pete Simmons. Following in his father's footsteps, he became a Master Mason in 2012. He is survived by his wife, Meredith of Jupiter, FL; a son, Justin Simmons of Claremont, NC; a sister, Rhonda Sebastian of Cincinnati, OH; a sister-in-law, Candace Simmons of Claremont, NC; and predeceased by his brother, Sean Simmons. Phil has a stepson, two grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, two nieces, three nephews, and many wonderful friends he met through his life's journey. A Masonic memorial service was held Sunday, September 21, 2014, in Florida at Jupiter Light Lodge #340. A memorial service will also be held Saturday, October 4, 2014, at Skyline Memory Gardens at 6:30 PM. Following the service, the family will receive friends at the Holiday Inn Express in Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, Phil requested that donations be made to Jupiter Light Lodge #340 or the Masonic Home, both at address P.O. Box 566, Jupiter, FL 33468. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is assisting the family.
