Phyllis Wanette Dawson

Ms. Phyllis Wanette Dawson, 60, of Cana, passed away unexpectedly at her home. She was born in Surry County to Waymond P Dawson and the late Josephine Bowman Dawson. Wanette graduated from Carroll County High School and was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church. Wanette was always an independent young woman choosing a variety of careers, with a confidence to succeed whether it was driving a tractor-trailer or running her own clean up shop where she was known for doing an immaculate job and being quite a perfectionist. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan and Abby Goad; her father, Waymond Dawson; siblings, Pam Rutherford, Phillip Dawson, and Danny Dawson. in addition to her mother, Wanette was preceded in death by an infant sister, Pansy Faith Dawson; her maternal grandparents, William Chelsey and Nellie Marshall Bowman, and paternal grandparents, William "Will" Arlis and Stella Iris Leonard Dawson. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, January 5 2022, at Oak Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. David Sechrist and Rev. Oscar Hill officiating.
