Priscilla Ann Nixon Marshall, 71, of 847 Crossingham Road, Mount Airy, entered life eternal on Thursday, May 15, 2008. She passed away quietly at Northern Hospital of Surry County, surrounded by her family. Mrs. Marshall was born April 23, 1937, in Surry County, to Thomas Nathaniel Nixon and Flora Ann 'Polly" Brown Nixon. She was preceded in death by her parents; her adopted sister, Tommie Gail Snyder; and her beloved husband of nearly 52 years, Douglas E. Marshall. Mrs. Marshall was a devoted and beloved, wife, mother, and grandmother. She is survived by her four sons and three daughters in law, Greg and Lori Marshall, Steve and Laura Marshall, and Eric and Julie Marshall, all of Mount Airy, and Chad Marshall of Wilmington, NC; her six grandchildren Tyler, Ben, William, Cara, and Robert Marshall and Derek Amburn, all of Mount Airy; her four step-grandchildren, Nathan, Natalie, and Jessica Ratermann and Emily Evans of Mount Airy; along with her sister-in-law, Brenda Golden of Mount Airy; nephew and spouse, Buddy and Colleen Golden of North Dakota; and niece, Heather Heath of Florida. Mrs. Marshall was a faithful Christian and long-time member of Salem United Methodist Church. She loved to praise God with her musical talent and for many years was the organist at Salem United Methodist and Rockford Street United Methodist Churches. Mrs. Marshall also loved working with children and retired after many years working as a teaching assistant in the Mount Airy City Schools. The family will receive friends at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Saturday, May 17. Funeral services will be conducted by the Reverend Bud Cameron at Salem United Methodist Church at 3:00 pm on Sunday, May 18. Burial will follow in Salem Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Salem United Methodist Church Cemetery Fund (c/o Clinton Gravley, 354 Hay Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030) or Mountain Valley Hospice (401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030). The family wishes to express their sincerest thanks to Mountain Valley Hospice, Surry Friends of Seniors, Central Continuing Care, and the doctors, nurses and staff of Northern Hospital of Surry County for their help during her illness.
