Mrs. Priscilla Ann Thomas, 59, of 2140 Haystack Road, Mount Airy, wife of the Rev. Arlis Thomas, passed away Tuesday, December 3, 2013, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Thomas was born May 1, 1954, in Patrick County, VA, to the late Abe and Medie Esther Sawyers Craig. She was a retired waitress, a homemaker, and a member of Chestnut Grove Baptist Church. She is survived by her husband, the Rev. Arlis Thomas of the home; a daughter, Andra Thomas of Mount Airy; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Wayne and Kristy Thomas and Brad Thomas, all of Mount Airy; seven grandchildren, Alisha Thomas, Mason Payne, Madison Thomas, Macey Thomas, Blayne Thomas, Haylee Thomas, and Landon Thomas; a sister, Daisy Leftwich of Mount Airy; and two brothers, Leon "Shoestring" Craig of Mount Airy and Edward Sawyers of King. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by two brothers, Horace Junior Sawyers and Herbert Craig. The funeral service will be held Friday, December 6, 2013, at 2:00 PM at Amazing Grace Baptist Church. The service will be conducted by the Rev. Jonathan Barker, and burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Moody Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1288, Mount Airy, NC 27030, to assist the family with the funeral expenses. The family would like to express a "special thanks" to the members of Amazing Grace Baptist Church for the love and support given to the family during Mrs. Thomas' illness.
