Mr. Quiller Lincoln Lakey, 93, of Mt. Airy passed away Friday, April 3, 2015 at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born in Rockingham County on February 13, 1922 to the late Lonnie Walter and Annie Laura McCann Cockerham. Mr. Lakey was retired from Needham Construction Company and was a member of White Plains Baptist Church. He proudly served our country in the United States Army during WWII. Mr. Lakey is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Vivian Thomas Lakey; grandson and spouse, Tim and Kim Lakey of Mt. Airy; great grandchildren, Ben, Jaxon, and Anna Lakey all of Mt. Airy; a sister, Laura Karriker of Gastonia; many nieces and nephews; a special friend, Frank Winsapp of Mt. Airy. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lakey was preceded in death by a son, Steve Lakey; a sister, Marie Bumgardner; brothers, Grover Cockerham and Roy Lakey. Funeral services will be held Monday, April 6, 2015 at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Tucker and the Rev. Ronald Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in White Plains Baptist Church Cemetery with full military honors conducted by VFW Memorial Honor Guard Post 2019 of Mt. Airy and Post 9436 of Pilot Mountain. The family will receive friends Monday from 10:00 AM until time for the service at Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy.
