Rachel Joy Jones Allred

Rachel Joy Jones Allred, 81, of Westfield, passed away on May 27, 2024, surrounded by her family.  Rachel was born on August 1, 1942, to Floyd and Ethel Cundiff Jones in Mount Airy, NC.  She graduated from Mount Airy High School in 1960.  She married Phillip Duane Allred of Level Cross, NC on December 4, 1965.  Throughout her life she held various jobs including providing in-home childcare, working at Perry Manufacturing, and retired from Northern Surry Hospital.  She also volunteered for many years with Northern Surry Hospital's Volunteer Services.   Rachel was preceded in death by an infant son, Phillip; both her parents; and her sister, Martha Jean Cassell.  She is survived by her brother, Mike (Stella) Jones of Mount Airy; her daughters, Angie (Bobby) Golding of Westfield, and Lisa (Joel) Stephens of Concord, NC; her six grandchildren, Katlyn Wills of Westfield, Danielle (Rob) Dieterle of Castle Hayne, NC, Carson (Maddie) Stephens of Oakboro, NC, and Carrie, Cooper, and Cathryn Stephens of Concord, NC; two great-grandchildren, Robert and Gwendolyn Dieterle of Castle Hayne, NC; and by many nieces and nephews.  Services will be held at Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Mount Airy, NC on Friday, May 31 at 3pm with the family receiving friends at 2pm.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Mount Carmel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
