Rachel Pack Hawks

Rachel Hawks, 82, of Mount Airy, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2026, at Rose Tara, after bravely battling Parkinson’s disease and dementia over the past year. She was born on April 16, 1943, in Patrick County, Virginia, to the late Boss Pack and Prince Ella Pack.

Rachel was preceded in death by her parents; along with her first husband James Donathan and second husband Donald Hawks; her brothers, Arthur, Ray, Jimmy, Herbert, Randy, David, and Grady Pack; and her sisters, Nannie Fulp, Gracie Pack, and Catherine Bowman.

Rachel leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory, including her special niece, Princess Pack and her partner Donnie Quesinberry; and her very special great nieces who were also her kids, Chloe and Ella Quesinberry. Two sisters-in-law who were her sisters Geraldine Pack of Woodlawn, VA and Doris Pack of Fredericksburg, VA. She also leaves behind her devoted partner, Junior Gwyn, along with many extended family members and countless dear friends whose lives she touched.

Rachel never had children of her own, but she never let that stop her from being a motherly figure to so many. Every child she met instantly gained a second mama, aunt, or even grandma. Her heart was open to everyone, and her love was unconditional. If anyone ever needed Rachel, she was there without hesitation — no matter how big or small the need, and no matter the time of day or night.

Rachel formed deep and lasting friendships throughout her life. She had a way of making people feel seen, loved, and cared for, and in return, she was loved more than words could express. She treasured her friends dearly and carried them close to her heart.

Though her final year brought difficult challenges, Rachel faced them with strength and resilience, surrounded by the love of those who cared for her. The memories she created, the love she gave, and the kindness she showed will continue to live on through everyone who had the blessing of knowing her.

Rachel will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
