Rachel Faye (Gwyn) Kirkman

Mrs. Rachel Faye Gwyn Kirkman, age 85 of Boone, passed away on Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at her home surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Kirkman was born on August 26, 1939, in Surry County to the late Shafer Ewell and Daisy Ray Gwyn. Rachel was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving are her daughters and sons-in-law, Eleanor Kirkman Ragan and Gary, Elaine Kirkman Brookshire and Reverend Eddie Brookshire; five grandchildren, Toby Ragan and Regan, Christopher Brookshire, Aliana Dixon and Chris, Daniel Brookshire, Andrew Brookshire; one great-granddaughter on the way; her twin sister, Hazel Gwyn Tolbert; and a brother Ralph Gwyn. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Kirkman was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Kirkman; a sister, Shirley Gwyn; brother Garfield Gwyn; and a brother-in-law, Buddy Tolbert. A private graveside service will be held at Midkiff Cemetery in Mount Airy, North Carolina . Per Rachel’s request, Mr. Toby Ragan will be speaking. No formal visitation will be held at this time. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
