Ralph Connor Ayers, Jr.

Mr. Ralph Connor Ayers, Jr., 82, of Cana, VA, passed away Monday afternoon, November 29, 2021, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem. He was born October 25, 1939, in Carroll County, VA, to the late Ralph Connor Ayers, Sr. and Opal Smith Ayers. Connor was a member of Mount Bethel Moravian Church and retired from Renfro Corporation. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Westmoreland Ayers; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Jeff and Fay Ayers and Carlton Ayers; three grandchildren, Ethan Ayers, Aaron and Penny Powell, and Amy and Matt McCrobie; two great-grandchildren, Kari Powell and Hayden Sheffer, his aunt and uncle, Margaret and George Davis; a nephew, Keith McMillian; a niece and her husband, Kathy and Tom Hemmings; many friends; and three special friends, Guy Hiatt, Lee Weddle, and Howard Tilley. In addition to his parents, Mr. Ayers was preceded in death by a sister, Billie Nell Ayers McMillian. A celebration of Connor’s life will be held Saturday, December 4, 2021, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with Brother Bruce Ayers, the Reverend Isreal Gwyn, and the Reverend Charles Fishel officiating. The family will receive friends Saturday from noon until 2:00 PM at the funeral home.
