Randolph "Randy" Norman Westenfelder

Randy Westenfelder 

Randy was born, October 25, 1972 and raised in Elkhart, IN and passed away in Greensboro, NC, earning his wings, after a senseless traffic accident on January 29, 2024.  Randy’s professional life was as a boat builder, trim carpenter, CDL truck driver, forklift operator and cook, with his latest as an Advanced Crew Lead with Flagger Force.  He had an artistic side that was best displayed with metal, building whirly-gigs with his Uncle.  

Randy had a life-long passion of the outdoors.  He loved Xbox gaming, paintballing, 4-wheeling, fishing, tubing and just relaxing watching sunsets.  He especially enjoyed spending time barbecuing his family and friends. With...With his family and friends!  This was his type of humor!  His love of life, ready smile and jovial personality had the magic to turn bad days into great days.  Randy loved to help and mentor his friends and coworkers.  A true heart of gold.

Randy is the son of the late Bonnie Perhne.  He is preceded in death by his grandparents, Norman and Jean DeWitt, brother-in-law Bill Freeze, aunt Bobbi DeWitt.  He is survived by his sister, Julie Freeze, step-sister Robyn Perhne and step-brother Gery Perhne, sons Damien Shipley (Devin) and Chase Westenfelder, uncle Russell DeWitt, cousin Patrick DeWitt.  Randy was loved by many more extended grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws, family and friends. 

Randy was cremated per his wishes.  Family and friends will gather on Saturday, February 3^rd, 2024 at 2pm for a Celebration of Life at Moody Funeral Service, 206 West Pine Street, Mount Airy, NC 27030.  Please share memories, stories and pictures at the Celebration.

In lieu of flowers, donations are appreciated to help with funeral related expenses.  Blood donations at the local Red Cross would also be appreciated in Randy’s name.
