Mr. Ray Creed, 96, of Winston-Salem, passed away Sunday, April 27, 2025, at Holiday Forsyth Court in Winston-Salem. Mr. Creed was born March 13, 1929, in Surry County, the son of the late John and Effie Dawson Creed. Ray graduated from Lowgap High School before proudly serving his country in the United States Army. A member of the Greatest Generation, his time in the military instilled in him the values of hard work, perseverance, and dedication that would guide him throughout his life. Following his service, Ray began a long and fulfilling career in construction. Known for his craftsmanship and integrity, he eventually retired as a respected general contractor. His work helped shape many homes, businesses, and communities – leaving a legacy built not just of structures but of trust and commitment. In addition to his professional accomplishments, Ray will be remembered for his steady presence, sharp wit, and deep love for his family, friends, and traveling. He was a man who valued honest work, meaningful conversation, and the simple joys of life. He is survived by a son, Gregory Creed; three grandchildren, Michael Creed, Nicole Creed, and Chantal Creed Brewster; two great-grandchildren, Theo Brewster and Lincoln Brewster; and a special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Loretta and Samuel Meyer. In addition to his parents, Mr. Creed was preceded in death by his wife, Dolores Eloise Turman Creed; a son, Steven Ray Creed; and a sister, Rachel Creed Shotwell. In keeping with Ray’s wishes, no visitation or memorial service will be held. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
