Rev. Carl Ray Beck

The Rev. Carl Ray Beck, 77, of 367 Sam Fulk Road, Pilot Mountain, passed away Wednesday, April 15, 2015, at his home. The Rev. Beck was born July 12, 1937, in Surry County, the son of the late Lonnie and Annie Davis Beck. The Rev. Beck pastored several Baptist churches in the local area for many years. In his later years, he also worked as a greeter at Walmart in Mount Airy. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Carol Tolbert Beck of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Dale Ashburn of Pilot Mountain; a son, Danny Ray Beck of Pilot Mountain; three grandchildren, Brandon Dale Ashburn of Charlotte, and Cody Ray Ashburn and Megan Beck, both of Pilot Mountain; a stepgrandchild, Maggie Edwards of King; a sister, Rose Ann Bullington of Pinnacle; and a brother and sister-in-law, Russell and Barbara Beck of Pilot Mountain. In addition to his parents, the Rev. Beck was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Ruth Beck Johnson Tolbert and Roy Montgomery Tolbert; and a brother-in-law, Wendell Bullington. The funeral service will be held Friday, April 17, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Justin Nelson, the Rev. Keith Jones, the Rev. Don Ball, and the Rev. Billy Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in the Anchor Baptist Church Cemetery in Ararat. The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
