Rev. Claude Allen Haynes, Sr.

The Rev. Claude Allen Haynes, Sr., 90, of Lowgap, passed away Saturday, November 13, 2021, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. He was born October 7, 1931, in Surry County, to the late Franklin Pierce and Foye Barker Haynes. The Rev. Haynes proudly served in and retired from the United States Air Force after 20 years of service. He loved God, and he loved his country. He was a loving father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who will surely be missed by all who knew him. Left to cherish his memories are a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Todd Gerber; a son, Claude Allen Haynes, Jr; his grandchildren, Tyler Gerber, Nate and Hannah Gerber, Caleb Gerber, Julia Haynes, and Abigail Gerber; a great-grandchild, Jack Gerber; two sisters and a brother-in-law, Gladys and Norman Hopkins and Betty Ann Cave; and three brothers and two sisters-in-law, Banner and Brenda Haynes, Wayne Haynes, and Russell and Alma Haynes. In addition to his parents, Mr. Haynes was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Haynes; two sisters, Margaret Ramey and Fannie Lou Lyons; and two brothers, Bill Haynes and Barkie Haynes. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, November 17, 2021, at 11:00 AM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Jerry Sizemore officiating. Burial will follow in the Round Peak Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, with military honors conducted by the North Carolina National Guard Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the funeral home.
