On November 18, 2025, Mr. Freddie Hugh Bullington, 82, of Ararat, NC went home to be with his Lord and Savior. Mr. Bullington was born on January 6, 1943 in Surry County to the late John Peter Bullington and Novella Cruise Bullington. In 1962, he married Patricia Ann Needham and began his working career at Pike Electric in Mt. Airy, NC, later working for R.J. Reynolds in Winston-Salem, NC, ending his career with IL Long in Winston-Salem, NC. Mr. Bullington developed many wonderful relationships during his working career and kept in touch with several of his former coworkers. Mr. Bullington loved his church, Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, and served as a Deacon, Adult Sunday School Teacher, and faithful church member.
Mr. Bullington took great pride in his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Patricia Needham Bullington, one son and daughter-in-law, Jonathan Blaine Bullington and Tina Paitsel Bullington, four grandchildren, Jordan (Dan) Miller, Jonathan (Ashley) Bullington, Jennah (Scott) Andes, and Julianna (Abbie) Bullington, as well as nine great-grandchildren, one sister, Nancy (Bill) Edwards, sister-in-law, Paulette (Pete) Welborn; brother-in-law, Phillip Needham as well as and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Regina (Tom) Bodenhimer, Joyce (Max) Cummings, and Elizabeth Freeman.
Freddie was a very caring man who loved his community, his family, and his church. He was an avid sports fan of Duke Basketball and loved fishing at the coast with his son. He was loved by all who knew him. Freddie never met a stranger but if he met someone he didn’t know, they were friends before they parted.
The family will be gathering in the days before the service at the home of Jonathan Blaine Bullington (Tina), 1545 Little Mountain Church Road, Ararat, NC. The funeral services for Mr. Bullington will be held at Sulphur Springs Baptist Church on Sunday, November 23rd. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 3:00 at the church, with services at 3:00 followed by a burial in the church cemetery. Officiating the service will be Rev. Ron Chamblin, Jr. and Rev. Randy Johnson.
The family would like to express their most sincere gratitude for the wonderful care provided through Mountain Valley Hospice of Surry County. Every person who entered the home to care for Mr. Bullington was compassionate, caring, and loving toward not only Mr. Bullington but the family as well. Memorials may be made to either Sulphur Springs Baptist Church, Mountain Valley Hospice of Surry County or Flowers will be accepted. Online condolences may be made at www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
