Rev. John Edwin Shore, age 71 of Stuart, Virginia went to heaven to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 25, 2015 at Forsyth Medical Center surrounded by his family and loved ones. He was born in Winston-Salem on April 12, 1944 to the late Mr. Fredrick Newsome Shore and Mildred Beasley Shore, who resided in King, NC. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his nephew, David Shore Shackleford. Rev. Shore was a graduate of Milligan College, East Tennessee State University, and University of Virginia. He lovingly served as an educator, coach, and principal in the Patrick County School System for 35 years. In 1988, he received his ordination from the Cornerstone Conference and devoted 26 years to the ministry. Performing over 38 marriages and leading many to the Lord. John's full life was celebrated through his love for his wife, his children, his grandchildren, coaching, teaching, preaching, and talking to the kids like Donald Duck.
Rev. Shore is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Brenda McConnell Shore of the home; his son, Teak Shore and wife, Elizabeth of Atlanta, GA; his daughter, Lucinda Shore of Atlanta, GA; three adored grandchildren, Cape Shore, Caroline Shore, and Sarah Kate Shore; his sister, Betty Shackleford of King, NC and several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service for John will be held at Patrick Springs Pentecostal Holiness Church on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at 4:00 pm with Rev. Marion Poythress and Rev. Thomas Shepherd officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 until time of the service. In lieu of flowers the family request that memorial donations be made to the John Shore Memorial Scholarship Fund, c/o Surrey Bank and Trust, P.O. Box 813, Stuart, Virginia 24171.
