Mount Airy

Stephen David McCreary

With deepest love, reverence, and profound sadness, we celebrate the life of Stephen “Steve” David McCreary, a man of unwavering faith, gentle strength, and a heart that never stopped giving. He passed from this life into the arms of his Savior, where peace and eternal promise now surround him.

Born to James Clarence McCreary and Margie Fulk McCreary, Steve grew up in the embrace of family. He was preceded in death by two siblings, Michael and Mary, who passed away at birth. He carried their memory with him always. He is survived by his brothers, Don, Roger, and Dean, with whom he shared not only family roots, but a lifetime of love and close friendship.

Steve was blessed with 38 years of marriage to his beloved wife, Deborah, the love of his life and greatest earthly companion. Their union was built on devotion, patience, and an unshakeable faith in God. Together, they created a home filled with warmth, laughter, and unwavering love.

Steve was the proud father of four sons, Jason, Justin, Dustin, and Ethan, each one a reflection of the values, strength, and character he lived out every day. His love for his daughters-in-law, Roxanne, Megan, and Chelsey was just as pure. That love and pride also carried over into the lives of his nieces and nephews. He was also a cherished grandfather who adored his grandchildren, James, Andrew, Lucas, Layna, SaraJoan, and Kay. They were his joy, his pride, and his constant reminder of God’s blessings continuing through the generations. He prayed for them, encouraged them, and delighted in seeing them grow.

Steve’s life was guided by his deep faith in Jesus Christ. He trusted in God’s promises, leaned on Scripture, and believed with his whole heart that the Lord walks beside His children through every moment of life. His faith was his strength and his compass, and his life was a testimony to grace, kindness, and the promise of eternal life.

Steve found peace on the open road, riding his Harley, where the world opened before him and he could feel the beauty of God’s creation all around. He loved deeply, worked tirelessly, and always found time to help those who needed it. His laughter, kindness, and steady presence touched every person who came to know him.

His passing leaves an empty place in the hearts of family and friends. Yet, as we mourn, we also rejoice in knowing that Steve has gone home to his eternal rest in Christ – where there is no pain or sorrow – only the lasting peace and glory of Heaven.

Steve’s legacy is one of love, faith, and devotion. His memory will continue to encourage and strengthen those who loved him in the days ahead. We take comfort in knowing that this is not goodbye, but “until we meet again.” May he ride on into God’s eternal light, held in grace and surrounded by heavenly peace.

We love you, Papa!
