Richard Arlon Dawson

Mr. Richard Arlon Dawson, 74, of Cana, Va, passed at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home after a brief illness, Sunday, March 27, 2022.  He was born September 19, 1947, in Carroll County, VA, to the late William “Will” Arlis and Iris Leonard Dawson.  Richard retired from Proctor Silex and was of the baptist faith.  He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, and wonderful friend.  He will be forever remembered by his daughter Tamara Dawson Surratt and husband Mitch, sons, Kevin Arlon  Dawson and wife Amy, and Bradley Eric Dawson; grandchildren, Lindsey Dawson, and Tyler McGrady; great grandchild Keegan Goad; his sister Rovetia Marion; brothers Raymond and Waymond Dawson; and a special brother-in-law Tony Davis.  In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Ann Dawson; and a brother Roland Eugene Dawson.  A graveside service will be held Tuesday, March 29, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Oak Ridge Baptist Church Cemetery, with Rev. David Sechrist and Rev. Winfred Davis officiating.   Moody Funeral Home in Mt. Airy will be assisting the family.
