Richard Gilbert Gillespie

Mr. Richard Gilbert Gillespie, 86, of Flint, MI, died Tuesday, June 14, 2011, at McLaren Regional Medical Center. The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 18, 2011 at 3:00 PM in the chapel of Moody-Davis Funeral Home in Dobson, NC, with the Rev. Jimmy Tucker, the Rev. Spencer Edmonds, and the Rev. Avery Branch officiating. Burial will follow in the Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Carriage Town Ministries. Richard was born October 21, 1924, in Dobson, NC, the son of the late Richard and Vertie Gillespie. On April 23, 1957, he married Barbara Ann Edmonds in York, SC. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Barbara Ann Edmonds Gillespie; his children and their spouses, Butch and Becca Gillespie, Shirley Kendrick, Rick and Debbie Gillespie, and Belinda and Mark Trudeau; his grandchildren, Jaclyn (Tim) Ocenasek, Heather Trudeau, Ashley Trudeau, Rachel Cady, Michael (Theresa) Kendrick, Bridget Villabol, and David (Tammy) Holland; eleven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; a brother, G.W. Gillespie; and a sister and brother-in-law, Treva and James Woods.
