Mr. Richard Allen Green, age 89 of Mount Airy passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, May 20, 2025, at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Green was born on May 30, 1935, in Hancock County, Ohio to the late Lloyd and Opal Fickle Green. Richard was a proud graduate of Ohio State University, where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business. After college Richard and Ruth made the West Side of Cincinnati home. In the summer of 2023, Richard and Ruth moved to North Carolina to be closer to their family especially their grandson Tyler. Richard spent over 30 years as a Bottling Line Supervisor and Quality Control Specialist at Seagrams Distillery in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. He worked two jobs most of his life with his second job working at area horse race tracks including Churchill Downs, Keeneland, Turfway, and River Downs as a Teller and Money Room Supervisor. As an animal lover at heart, Richard had a special affinity for horses and dogs. He spent many hours enjoying their company. He also found pleasure in feeding the deer that would visit his home. Richard proudly served his country in the United States Air Force National Guard. He was a loving husband, father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, and friend. Mr. Green will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Surviving is his devoted wife, Ruth Beck Green with whom he shared 68 wonderful years of marriage. The bond was one of deep respect, unwavering commitment and an enduring love that stood the test of time; two daughters and son-in-law, Dr. Julianne V. Green, JoAnn Green Brucker and Jeffrey; grandson, Robert Tyler Haynes; sisters-in-law, Jean Green, Marjorie Green, Ardith Green; along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Green was preceded in death by five brothers, Rolland Green, Ralph Green, Byron Green, Robert Green, James Green. A  Private Graveside service will be held at Oakdale Cemetery in Mount Airy with Pastor Jason Madison officiating. No formal visitation will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Richard’s memory to: Speranza Animal Rescue, 1216 Brandt Road, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy has been entrusted with the arrangements.
