In Loving Memory of Richard Leo Henderson

Richard Leo Henderson, 78, of Vincennes, Indiana, entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior, leaving behind a legacy of courage, honor, faith, and unwavering love for his family.

Born to Thomas Robert Henderson and Norma Jean Henderson, Richard was a devoted son, a beloved brother to Ronald Henderson, a proud father, grandfather, great-grandfather, soldier, and friend. Throughout his life, he exemplified strength, humility, and selfless service, touching countless lives with his quiet wisdom and steadfast character.

Richard answered the call to serve his country with extraordinary bravery during the Vietnam War. As a proud member of the United States Army 101st Airborne Division and 25th Infantry, he rose to the distinguished rank of First Sergeant. His courage on the battlefield earned him some of our nation's highest military honors, including the Purple Heart, the Bronze Star, and the Silver Star. While these medals recognized his heroism, those who knew Richard understood that his greatest strength was found not in the accolades he received, but in the integrity, sacrifice, and compassion with which he lived every day.

Above all else, Richard's greatest pride was his family. He leaves behind his loving children: Michelle Henry, Bradlee Henderson, Richard Henderson, Adam Henderson, and Erin Henderson, along with his cherished grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each of whom brought immeasurable joy to his life. His love for his family was unconditional, and the values he instilled—faith, perseverance, honor, and kindness—will continue to live on through generations.

Richard will be remembered for his resilience in the face of adversity, his servant's heart, his unwavering patriotism, and the quiet strength that inspired everyone fortunate enough to know him. Whether offering words of wisdom, lending a helping hand, or simply sharing a smile, he made the world a better place through his presence.

Though our hearts are heavy with grief, we find comfort in God's promise of eternal life. Richard fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith. Today, we rejoice knowing he has been welcomed home into the arms of his Heavenly Father, where pain and suffering have ceased, and peace is everlasting.

As Scripture reminds us: "Well done, good and faithful servant... Enter into the joy of your Lord." — Matthew 25:23

Until we meet again, Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa, Brother, and Friend, we will carry your love in our hearts and your example in our lives. Your earthly mission is complete, your service is honored forever, and your soul now rests in the glorious presence of Jesus Christ.

May God grant comfort to all who mourn his passing, and may Richard Leo Henderson's memory forever be a blessing.
