Mr. Ricky Elwin McMillian, 40, of 115 World Tour Lane, Mount Airy, passed away Friday afternoon, April 24, 2015, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem. Mr. McMillian was born May 13, 1974, in Surry County, one of three children born to Judy Terry McMillian and the late Joseph Iven McMillian. Ricky worked at Virginia-Carolina Signs and Rogers Insulation, subcontractors for Allen Industries Inc. in Greensboro. He was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Ararat. He is survived by his wife, Karren Boles McMillian of Mount Airy; two sons, Ryan Seth McMillian and Landon Chase McMillian, both of Mount Airy; a stepdaughter, Amber Kay Smith of Westfield; his mother, Judy Terry McMillian of Mount Airy; a sister and brother-in-law, Jennifer and Greg Wall of Mount Airy; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Melody McMillian of Mount Airy; several nieces and nephews; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. In addition to his father, Mr. McMillian was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Carmie and Alpha Terry; and his paternal grandparents, Roy and Edie Jane McMillian. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy, with the Rev. Josh Sechrist and the Rev. Zane Fishel officiating. Burial will follow at Oakdale Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial contributions may be made to Moody Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1288, Mount Airy, NC 27030, to assist the family with the funeral expenses.
