Ricky Lee Stanley

Mr. Ricky Lee Stanley, 56, of Dobson, passed away Friday morning, May 27, 2011, surrounded by his loving family at the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home. He was born August 1, 1954, in Surry County, to Leroy "Bill" Stanley and the late Nancy Chrismon Stanley. Ricky graduated from Surry Central High School in 1972 and served our country in the United States Army. He was an active member of Salem Baptist Church and self-employed as a FHTM executive sales manager. Ricky was also active in The Gideons International. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Debbie Key Stanley of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Amber Stanley Bryant and Chad Bryant of Elkin; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Shane and Christa Stanley of Durham, Casey and Cindy Mitchell, Landon Mitchell, and Kenley Mitchell, all of Dobson; five grandchildren, Alek Fargis, Colby Mitchell, Zackary Mitchell, Nathaniel Stanley, and Alexis Stanley; his father, Leroy "Bill" Stanley of Dobson; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Vickey and Bruce Wood of Dobson and Pam and David Smith of Siloam; a brother, Greg Stanley of Charlotte; and several very special nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Sunday, May 29, 2011, at 2:00 PM at Salem Baptist Church, with Dr. Bobby R. Lewis, Jr. and the Rev. Mitchell Robertson officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery, with military honors by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard. The family will receive friends Saturday from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Salem Baptist Church. After the visitation, his body will be taken back to Moody-Davis Funeral Home, where he will remain until carried to the church to lie-in-state 30 minutes prior to the service. The family has requested that, in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Salem Baptist Church Building Fund, 430 Rockford Road, Dobson, NC 27017; Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, 401 Technology Lane, Suite 200, Mount Airy, NC 27030; or The Gideons International, Dobson Camp, P.O.
