"RJ" Cummings, Jr.

Mr. Robert James Cummings Jr., age 74 of Elkin, passed away Saturday, November 9, 2019.  He was born September 25, 1945, in Surry County to the late Robert James Cummings Sr. and Hazel Mounce Cummings, who survives. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Brenda Cummings Cook.  Mr. Cummings was a lifelong member of Little Richmond Baptist Church. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Jo Anne Steele Cummings; daughters, Rebecca Cummings and Jennifer Cummings; son and daughter-in-law, Robert Steele Cummings and Kim Perry Cummings; grandchildren, Joshua Cave, Jacob Cave, Jenna Cave, Samuel Cummings and Perry Cummings; sister and brother-in-law, Karen Sue Armstrong-Cummings and Dan Armstrong; sister, Barbara Cummings Reed; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Billie and Bill Casstevens; and a special son, James York. Visitation will be Monday, November 11, 2019, from 6:00-8:00 pm at Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson. The funeral will be at 2:00 pm Tuesday at Little Richmond Baptist Church with Reverend J.V. Lowe and Reverend Richard Loman officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Joan and Howard Woltz Hospice Home, 945 Zephyr Road, Dobson NC 27017.
