Robert "Jake" Junior Shelton

Robert “Jake” Junior Shelton, 75, of Dobson, North Carolina passed away Monday, June 9, 2025, at his home with his loving wife by his side. Born September 15, 1949, in Surry County, to the late Johnny and Dorothy Wall Shelton. Jake worked for Pepsi-Cola for 40 years. After retiring from Pepsi, he worked for Surry County Schools as a bus driver, where he was named Bus Driver of the Year numerous times. He was a devout Christian and made a lasting impact on many people’s lives. He loved serving in his church through many roles - chairman of the Deacon Board, Sunday School Superintendent, and Sunday school teacher.

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be sorely missed by all that had the pleasure of knowing him. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife, Sue Edwards Shelton; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa White and Jason; son and daughter-in-law, Rodney Shelton and Amy; grandchildren, Madison Cockram and Brycen, Karlie Mills and Austin, Brody Shelton, and Bradly Shelton; great grandchildren, Ryleigh Mills, Colter Mills, Avery Cockram, and Adalynn Cockram; sisters and brother-in-law, Kay Phillips and Max, Peggy Shelton, and Beatrice Trivette; brother and sisters-in-law, Randy Shelton and Kay, and Ellen Shelton; special nieces, Norma Whitaker and Junior, and Sharon Mayes; as well as, special friends, David Calhoun and Sandra. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Frank Shelton, Ricky Shelton, David Shelton, and Larry Shelton; sister and brother-in-law, Brenda and Wade Milsap; brother-in-law, Tommy Trivette; a grandson, John John Shelton; and special nephew, James “Joe” Mayes. The family will receive friends, Thursday, June 12, 2025, from 1:00 until 3:00 PM at Blues Grove Baptist Church. The funeral will take place at 3:00 PM, Thursday, June 12, 2025, at Blues Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Travis Sechrist and Rev. James Collins officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
