Robert Glenn "Bobby" Jones, Jr.

“I’ve flown away from this old world, just like I said I would!” My new home is in heaven with my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and my beloved family members who had already gone.

 Robert Glenn Jones, Jr. (best known as Bobby) moved on to his heavenly home on Saturday June 22, 2024, from Novant Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, NC where he had been a patient since February 26th.

 Bobby was 64 years old. He was born in Surry County, NC on August 25, 1959, to the late Robert Glenn Jones, Sr. and Vera Marion Jones. He is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Marilyn and David Rudy, of Austinville, VA; brother-in-law, Donald Williams, of Cana, VA; niece and her husband, Lesley and Jason McMillian; nephew and his wife, Matt and Rachael Williams; nephew and his fiancé, Daniel Williams and Lacey Kalb; and his caregivers, Laura Beth Parnell and Brian Parnell. Bobby was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Linda Williams.

Bobby lived with his parents until he was 40 years old, but he always said he wanted “a life of my own”. He was able to achieve this over the past 24 years with the help of Mount Rogers Community Services Board and Walls Residences while living in the home of Laura Beth and Brian Parnell in Hillsville, VA for the past 14 years. Bobby’s family wishes to thank each and every one of you for the role you played in Bobby’s life. How do you thank someone enough for helping to create a fulfilling and happy life?  Bobby grew up in Cana, VA and graduated from Carroll County High School. Music had always meant a lot to Bobby. He loved his bluegrass and country music and he loved it loud. He also loved a little dog named Louie who always joined him for breakfast each morning.

 Bobby’s funeral will take place at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy, NC on Thursday June 27, 2024, at 2:00pm with burial in the Flower Gap Baptist Church Cemetery. There will be a visitation with family and friends one hour prior to the funeral service at Moody’s.

 Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the Jones family.
