Mr. Robert Stephen “Bobby” Lynch, 76, of Lowgap, passed away early Wednesday morning, March 21, 2018, at Forsyth Medical Center in Winston-Salem, surrounded by his loving family. Mr. Lynch was born December 1, 1941, in Amelia County, VA, one of three children born to the late Eartle and Alma Hall Lynch. Bobby was a beloved husband, father, and papa. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Jean Dollyhigh Lynch of the home; a daughter, Stephanie Lynch Shumate of the home; a son and daughter-in-law, Bryan and Lori Martinez Lynch of Winston-Salem; seven grandchildren, Trista, Bryan, Ethan, Kayla, Brandon, Brianna, and Ashley; six great-grandchildren, Maggie, Lily, Zoey, Hayden, Ryker, and Kyleigh; and a sister, Peggy Lynch Blankenship of Amelia, VA. In addition to his parents, Mr. Lynch was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Lynch. Bobby was a teacher at White Plains Elementary School and J. Sam Gentry Middle School for more than 30 years and was a fixture with his favorite hobby of rocks and jewelry every year at the Autumn Leaves Festival. A memorial visitation will be held Sunday, March 25, 2018, from 2:00 until 4:00 PM at Blues Grove Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, Bobby requested all well-wishers to do something nice for a teacher to show their appreciation of how a single person can touch so many lives forever. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is in charge of the cremation and respectfully serving the family.
