Robert Lee Simpson

Mr. Robert Lee Simpson, age 91 of Siloam, NC, passed away peacefully at his daughters home early Friday morning May 3, 2024.  He was born March 22, 1933, in Surry County number seven of nine children to the late Colie McKinley Simpson and Mecie Emma Reynolds Simpson.  Mr. Simpson proudly served our country in the US Army and was a member of Pine Hill Church.   Mr. Simpson was a farmer and worked in the auto sales business.  He worked for Scenic Ford before opening and operating T & S Motors for several years.  Left to cherish his memory are his daughter and son-in-law, Tonda and Michael Marion; granddaughters, Emily Fischer and Brad, and Sarah Bowen and Jason; great grandchildren, Michael Timothy Fischer, Ella Morgan Elizabeth Fischer, Jake Robert Bowen and Case Edward Bowen; special friend Linda Key and her family; several nieces and nephews; and many other family and friends.  In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his wife, Gilda Gray Watson Simpson; infant son, Gary Lee Simpson; son and daughter-in-law, Timmy Steven Simpson and Frances; granddaughter, Brittany Simpson; and his eight siblings.   Funeral services will be held on Tuesday May 7, 2024, at 11:00am at Pine Hill Church with Rev. Michael Thames, Rev. Joey Lane and Rev. Billy Watson officiating.  Burial will follow at Little Mountain Baptist Church Cemetery with full military rites by the VFW Memorial Honor Guard Pilot Mountain Post 9436 and Mount Airy Post 2019.  The family will receive friends at Pine Hill Church on Tuesday from 10:00 – 11:00am.  The Simpson family would like to say thank you for all of the special love and appreciation from the Watson family throughout the years.  The family would like to extend a special thank you to Jeannie Harrison of Senior Quality Care, Dr. Heidi Marlowe-Rogers, MD of Mountain View Medical, and Trellis Supportive Care for all of the love and support given to Mr. Simpson and his family.  Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
