Robert Terry Smith, Jr.

Mr. Robert Terry Smith, Jr., 89 of Mount Airy, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday September 29, 2026, with his loved ones by his side. He was born in Surry County on August 30, 1937, to the late Robert Terry “Bob” Smith, Sr. and Martha Frances Matthews Smith. Terry was a retired brick mason and proudly served our country in the US Army. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 60 years, Brenda Allen Smith, daughter, Elizabeth Michelle Smith and Josh Hemric; son, Robert “Rob” Terry Smith, III; sisters and brothers-in-law, Melba Smith, Linda and Turner Thompson, Kay Fisher, and Evelyn and John Young; brother, Donald Smith; special sisters-in-law, Vicky Sue Allen and Mel Allen; and several other family and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Smith was preceded in death by four brothers, Larry, Ronald, Ray, and Tony Smith. A memorial gathering will be held on Saturday October 3, 2026, at Moody Funeral Home in Mount Airy from 6:00- 8:00pm. A private committal will take place in the Surry Veteran’s Cemetery at a later date. Flowers will be excepted or memorials may be made to DAV. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
