Roberta Cockerham Williams

Roberta Cockerham Williams, age 77, of Elkin, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, February 27, 2026, after a quiet and courageous battle with cancer.

Roberta was born on March 20, 1948, in Surry County to the late Thomas Cockerham and Vera Stewart Cockerham. She retired from Yadkin Valley Head Start, where she faithfully served her community.

She was a loving daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Her family was the center of her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Roberta was preceded in death by her parents.

Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Patricia, Melissa, and Stephanie (Todd) Williams; her sister, Dorothy (Oscar) Antone; her brothers, William, Thomas "Buck” and Calvin (Gwyn) Cockerham; as well as several nieces, nephews, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

At her request, there will be a private graveside service for immediate family only at Little Richmond Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist, the Hematology and Oncology team of Elkin, and a very special thank you to the caring staff of Mountain Valley Hospice for their compassion and support during this time.
